PEEISS -SLOVENIA

On my second year of beautician studies I´ve been part of PEEISS-project. It is a international entrepreneurship project and has few schools and companies from different sides of Europe taking part of it. In the fall of 2016 we went to Slovenia for a week to study entrepreneurship via PEEISS. Our Finnish traveling team was all ladies, two teachers and four students.

On a grey Sunday morning we flew to Slovenia, via Germany. We were super excited about this trip. Some of us were first time abroad, and first time in a airplane. We got to the airport of Ljubljana almost without any problems. Unfortunately our teachers suitcases had missed the flight from Germany to Slovenia and they didn’t get them until the next day. We took a taxi to the city of Novo mesto where the project was held. We stayed at a apartment hold, where also the Macedonian teachers and students stayed. On our first night of staying in Novo mesto we took a walk around the beautiful city and had a dinner at a local restaurant.

The first morning of the project didn’t go exactly as planned. There had been some kind of miscommunication, and we ended up in a wrong place. But we were not the only ones, because also the Macedonians thought that we were supposed to be at the university of Novo mesto. After few phone calls we finally had a car rides to another place were the activities of that week were held.

During those few days of staying in Novo mesto we had different kinds of group projects about entrepreneurship. We learned for example  how to use business canvas, how to pitch and how to do marketing search. Working in English was first a little challenging but we learned really quick how to communicate about entrepreneurship in English.

The days were kind of long, or at least it felt like it (of course it takes more energy to work with different language in a new environment). The days at the Start Up place started at 8 am, and ended around 4 pm. Every day we had a lunch at a restaurant that was located in a beautiful valley, at a tiny local “airport”. One day after lunch one Slovenian guy took us on a sightseeing ride through the valley, with his super cool old car! That was awesome!

At our free time we liked going around the city, having drinks and dinners in a different local restaurants. The city of Novo mesto is really beautiful and we loved having walks by the river that passes the city. We also stopped by a local grocery store couple of time to buy some snacks for our evenings. The local little shops of different kinds, were really nice to visit too.

Me and a classmate of mine ended up having  a double-date with some local boys ;) hahahh nothing serious tho! We just went to play pool and to have drinks with them. J

Usually by nights we hang out with all the youths taking part of the project. It was a lot of fun to get to know them all! We felt like the week went by way too fast and we wouldn’t had minded staying for couple of weeks more.

Also the chemistry between our Finnish team was great! We laughed a lot and had so much fun!

For the last night of staying in Slovenia we went to the city of Ljubljana. It was one of the most beautiful cities I´ve ever seen! We walked around the city and did little bit of shopping. We also went to see a castle up to the hill that was in the city centre. We learned a lot about the history of Slovenia. We got to stay in a beautiful hotel right in the city centre.

Our way back home went good, mostly by sleeping!

I cant wait our trip to Macedonia in two weeks! I hope to see many familiar faces there!
